PSYC Major wins scholarship to study abroad in South Korea!

Congratulations to PSYC major Taneisha Carter, who won a Gilman International Scholarship to
study abroad in Seoul, South Korea this summer! The Gilman program provides significant funding to support students who are interested in studying in diverse parts of the world (especially those outside of Western Europe and Australia). The scholarship also supports students who have been traditionally under-represented in education abroad. Taneisha is completing a minor in Korean Studies, and has great interest in the culture. Taneisha is also an accomplished PSYC major, with research involvements in the Maryland Child and Family Development Lab and volunteer experience in an after-school program for children with cognitive or physical disabilities.

Taneisha’s coursework at Korea University will focus on both culture and societal structure. She is interested in the differences in the application of mental treatment for children in Western and Eastern cultures. Outside of academics, she plans to attend various festivals, concerts, and museums. She says, “I am looking forward to the new adventures I will have while there!" We are very proud of you – congratulations, Taneisha!
